Lia Aiavao
Senior Associate
Malia Aiavao is a results-driven marketing and communications operative, whose dynamic skill set helps to build and maintain key relationships in an ever-changing political environment. Her experience in high-impact community outreach programs, political fundraising, and strategic messaging has enabled her to excel in virtually any scenario.
As a third-generation San Franciscan, who grew up in the City’s Chinatown neighborhood, Malia’s interest in politics and public affairs stemmed from volunteering with her older brother for a local supervisorial race in her district. She went on to complete an internship on the San Francisco Shared Schoolyard Project, an organization that seeks to provide a place for children and families to play in their local neighborhoods, and remained involved in Bay Area politics.
Prior to joining BMWL, Malia served as Field Director on Catherine Stefani’s successful campaign for San Francisco Supervisor and as a Northwest Finance Associate on Senator Kamala Harris’ 2020 presidential campaign. In these roles, she managed voter outreach programs and coordinated with top-raising National Finance Committee members to help organize high-dollar and grassroots fundraising events.
Malia is a graduate of the University of Mississippi where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Integrated Marketing Communications and a minor in Business Administration. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling to new places and spending time outdoors.
