CASE STUDY
SOS Cathedral Hill
Northern California Presbyterian Homes & Services operates a retirement community on Cathedral Hill in San Francisco. Residents there are concerned about the negative impact on the community if a proposal by an out-of-state developer to build a 400-foot luxury condominium tower is approved. BMWL sprang into action to organize neighborhood opposition to the plan and pressure local decision makers to fully investigate the impacts of the project on the neighborhood.
In less than 30 days, we executed an action plan that included direct mail, paid phone calls, online advertising and a town hall-style meeting that was attended by more than 400 neighborhood residents. As a result of our work, the neighborhood is now organized and ready to engage in the lengthy battle to prevent the developer from gaining special rights and supersede local zoning laws.
